There are poorly understood Human Factors that can significantly affect the likelihood of catastrophic injuries and death.  When people are unknowingly exposed to dangerous conditions, they are unable to take adequate precautions to avoid these events.  The science of Human Factors relates to how people interact with other people, products and environments in foreseeable ways, and to ensure that products and environments are designed and maintained in a safe manner. It is important to understand the types of errors that can occur when human factors are not adequately considered.
